We all have a role to play in keeping our kids safe online and protecting personal information.
In South Africa we have the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act) designed for this purpose. For more information on the POPI Act and the roles and responsibilities of both the photographers and Photoset as a processor of information take a look at the following page: POPI Act
Chapter 3 of the POPI Act deals with 'Conditions for Lawful Processing of Personal Information'.
Condition 7 states 'A responsible party must secure the integrity and confidentiality of personal information in its possession or under its control by taking appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent— (b) unlawful access to or processing of personal information.
Up until now we have allowed password protected access to images at a class or gallery level. With our new feature it is now possible to lock down individual images with a unique password.
This is great for instances where greater security is required.
